Poll fact finding team visits Gujrat

GUJRAT, Feb 7: Former chief justice of Pakistan Justice Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui, who is also chairman of Citizens Group on Electoral Process (CGEP), led an ‘Electoral Fact Finding Mission’ to Gujrat on Thursday.

The CGEP delegation held detailed meetings with District Nazim Chaudhry Shafaat Hussain, DCO and the DPO and inquired about the role of district government and administration in the electoral process.

The delegation specifically focused the alleged involvement of the district government in the election process.

It also held meetings with the district returning officer and returning officers, besides candidates of the PML-Q, PML-N and the PPP. The CGEP after formulating a detailed report based on its interaction with various electoral stakeholders in Gujrat and issued it to the media.

A similar fact-finding mission will also visit Sialkot on Feb 8 (today). The delegation also included Dr Ijaz Shafi Gilani, Dr Parvez Hassan, Mr Shahid Hamid, Mr Ahmed Bilal Mehboob and Ms Aasiya Riaz. — Correspondent
