KOHAT, Feb 1: The armed tribesmen from Mohammadzai area of Kohat and Bezote side of the Orakzai Agency fighting over the possession of disputed land agreed to a ceasefire till February 4 on Friday.

The Bangash tribesmen from Kohat, who had been asking the government for years to get vacated their land allegedly occupied by the Orakzai tribesmen, took positions on mountains on Thursday and fired at their opponents.

The Bangash tribesmen had been demanding that the Bezote residents should leave the 120 houses constructed on their land.

The rival side also fired at Mohammadzai village and the firing continued with intervals till Thursday evening. However no casualties were reported, police said.

District Nazim Gohar Saifullah, ASP Athar Waheed and some other elders intervened to stop the fighting and summoned a jirga to resolve the issue. Both the tribes would discuss the land issue and announce their decision after February 4.
