KARACHI: Bank robbed of Rs2.9m

KARACHI, Jan 21: A gang of five dacoits looted over Rs2.9 million from a bank in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Monday.

Police said that the dacoits entered a UBL branch at Junaid Plaza in Block 6 in the morning and held the staff and security guards hostage at gunpoint. They said that the bandits decamped with Rs2,944,800 and the rifles of the two security guards.

Police retrieved the footage of the CCTV camera installed in the bank. They registered a case on the complaint of the bank manager, Talat Mehmood.

The police said that both the security guards had been taken into custody for negligence.
