KARACHI, April 7: At least 24 vehicles — 12 cars and 12 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen from different parts of the city on Sunday, police said.

Five cars were hijacked and seven stolen, while six motorcycles were hijacked and an equal number were stolen from different parts of the city.

Police also claimed the recovery of seven vehicles — ACK-153, JM-4877, KF-5879, ACY-881, ACV-211, D-1044 and SKE-5612.

KILLED: Police foiled a robbery attempt in a minibus in Metroville, Orangi Town, on Sunday.

Police said that two armed men boarded a minibus (JE-0476) of route Z-2 and got busy collecting valuables and cash from the passengers, at gunpoint.

They said that two police officials posted at the Khyber Bridge picket saw the robbery in progress and challenged the two robbers.

One of the two robbers opened fire at the policemen at which they returned fire, killing one unidentified bandit.

The other robber identified as Shaukat was arrested by the police.

Police also claimed recovering a pistol from their possession.

DROWNING: A partially-decomposed body of a teenager was recovered from the Clifton Beach, on Sunday.

Police said that the body of the sixteen-year-old boy was washed ashore at the Clifton beach.

The Sea View police check-post was informed about the body by people visiting the beach.

At the time the body was found, the beach was crowded by hundreds of people due to it being a public holiday.

The body was shifted to the Edhi morgue for identification, Edhi sources said.

ELECTROCUTED: A young man was electrocuted in North Nazimabad, on Sunday.

Police said that an unidentified young man in his late 20s was electrocuted when he stepped over the live electric wire of a suction pump installed at a park at Qalandri Chowk, Block J, North Nazimabad.

Police said that the suction pump was installed to water the park.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem examination, police said.

INJURED: A young man was stabbed by a heroin addict in Kalakot, Lyari, on Sunday.

Police said that Tariq, 22, was coming out of a eating house in Gali No 2, Kalakot, when a heroin addict stabbed him in the chest and escaped.

The victim was shifted to Civil Hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

Hospital sources described the victim’s condition as stable.

The police was clueless about the motive behind the attack and said it might have been a robbery attempt.
