THATTA, April 5: A complete strike was observed in Daro town by residents in protest against the load shedding and issuance of inflated bills.

Five consumers staged a token hunger strike against HESCO as part of their protest campaign.

Meanwhile, hundreds of power consumers took to streets in Daro town on Friday to protest against the load shedding, issuance of inflated bills and indifferent attitude of Hesco officials.

They were carrying lanterns, candles and torches in broad daylight.

The United Merchants Association organized the rally, which was taken out form Haider Shah chowk and culminated at Daro-Bathoro road where the protesters staged a sit-in.

Speaking to the protesters the leaders of the association Rafiq Essani, Hafiz Haji Mohammad Memon and others accused the Hesco official of using black mailing tactics to force the consumers to enter into a deal with them. On refusal the citizens were facing power breakdowns of longer durations.

They slammed meter readers, Saleem, Sadiq and Mushtaq and SDO construction for harassing them.
