HYDERABAD, Dec 18: The District Council adopted three resolutions on Tuesday seeking removal of encroachment on main roads, end to quackery and ban on cable television advertisement of faith-healers.

Resolutions regarding these issues were moved by Dr Arif Razmi on the last day before it was adjourned sine die. The session was presided over by convenor Zafar Ali Rajput. A detailed discussion was held on resolutions.

Arif Razmi said encroachment on Auto Bhan Road was adding to traffic hazards and congestion. He said traffic accidents were also increasing because of encroachments.

Resolution was supported by Rashid Khan, Rauf Jafri and Yameen Soomro. They claimed encroachment was not the issue of one road therefore it should be adopted without further delay. The Council adopted the resolution unanimously. The house also urged Taluka Municipal Administrations (TMAs) to take action in this matter.

Razmi’s another resolution pertained to cable operators airing advertisement of faith-healers and inviting peoples of all ages. He said cable operators were not concerned about ethics and cultural issues therefore action should be taken against them.

Rauf Jafri, Javed Kardar, Hussein Bux Hussaini, Munawar Zai and Q. Hakim participated in debate and said action should be taken against cable operators. He said people promoting such ads should be taken to task and recommendations send to Pemra. The Council approved the resolution. Third resolution sought prompt action against quacks and fake doctors playing with the lives of innocent people.

Convener promised to speak to District Nazim about salaries and problems of employees of defunct District Council and directed District Officer Human Resource Management to present record of employees in next session. Mehboob Abro rose on a point of order to make his point.

The house approved the Citizen Community Boar Scheme for provision of water to residents of Zeal Pak Cooperative Society.
