KARACHI, Dec 16: Two youngsters died and two others were seriously injured in a road accident in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Sunday, police said.

The fatal accident occurred when a pickup truck knocked down a motorcycle on Abul Hasan Ispahani Road.

Police said the accident resulted in the deaths of Akhtar, 18, and Younus, 17. Six-year-old Osama and Imran, 18, were seriously injured.

Police said all the four persons were traveling on the two-wheeler. Police arrested the pickup’s driver and impounded the vehicle.

The victims were taken to the Jinnah Hospital, where the injured were admitted for treatment.

Shot dead

A young man was killed while his brothers and father were wounded when unknown persons barged into their house and opened fire on them.

Baldia Town SPO Shafi Rind said the gunmen barged into the house in Gulshan-i-Ghazi.

The victim, identified as Laeeq, came in front of the gunmen and suffered fatal wounds while his two younger brothers along with their father were also wounded in the shooting.

DSP Rind said he suspected some personal enmity as a possible motive behind the incident as the armed intruders didn’t take away anything from the house.

The family also lodged an FIR under Section 302 against unknown persons. The DSP quoted the family as saying that at a later stage they would nominate the suspects.
