NAWABSHAH, Dec 9: Activists of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Sunday, demanding release of their leader Dr Safdar Sarki and some workers.

The protesters were carrying banner and placards and raising slogans against the government.

Nawabshah JSQM president Kehar Ansari, Gul Dahiri, Qadir Zardari, Masood Khaskheli and others alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched to kill Dr Sarki by torturing him in the jail and demanded provision of medical treatment to him.

They said that Dr Sarki had been kept in illegal confinement and other nationalists leaders were also braving torture there.

They claimed that the establishment was depriving Sindh of its rights and its economy was also under attack.

MQM: A number of people joined Muttahida Qaumi Movement here on Sunday.

Members of the Awan and the Lashari communities including Dr Ameer Awan, Sadiq Awan, Saeed Awan, Fareed Lashari, Khuda Bux Lashari, Umer Din and others of union council No-6 joined the MQM.

Speaking on the occasion Nawabshah zonal organizer of the party Anwar Saleem said that their party was struggling against injustices and feudal system in the country.

Abdul Rasheed Arain, candidate of MQM for PS-24 claimed that his party would win the election with majority and would continue their struggle for the rights of people.

Meanwhile, Thatta Union Council Nazim Hanif Chandio, who was in PML (Q), quitted his party and announced to join the PPP.

JUI (F): Jamiat Ulema Islam (F) candidates for the NA-213 and PS-24 seats Maulana Hizbullah Khoso and Nizamuddin Burdi have said there was no Constitution or law as the country was in the grip of anarchy.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, they said that life and property of a common man were not secure. They said Sindh has been deprived of its rights and its natural resources were being looted since past 60 years and the provinces were not given autonomy.
