HYDERABAD, Nov 27: Justice Khwaja Naveed Ahmed of the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, on Monday directed the general manger (administration) of Wapda and managing director of Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) to maintain the status quo in the case of retired chief executive officer of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) Jameeluddin and allowed respondents’ counsel to file comments in two weeks.

The court said that status quo, as appeared on September 28, should be maintained.

Jameeluddin, who was represented by Saulat Rizvi advocate, said that due to his spotless meritorious services he was given three promotions without any extraneous efforts as he was first appointed as executive engineer, then superintending engineer and thirdly as chief engineer.

He had been posted as Hesco chief executive officer by Wapda vide order dated September 28 which was a proof of his merit and commitment to his job assignments and loyalty to the authority, he said.

Respondent’s representative, Mohammad Yaseen appeared before the court and rejected documents filed by petitioner along with petition and contended that petitioner did not object to seniority list issued from time to time whereby his date of birth had been shown as November 27, 1947.

In his petition, the petitioner said that in the seniority list circulated vide letter dated November 30, 1996, his year of birth was rightly mentioned as 1949 but for the date of birth an error once again occurred and his complete date of birth was mentioned as November 22, 1949 instead of November 27, 1949.

He prayed the court to set aside impugned order of retirement and direct respondents to correct his date of birth in their record as per academic and NADRA record which is actually November 27, 1949, and not November 27, 1947.
