KARACHI: Panic over bomb hoax in bank

Published November 27, 2007

KARACHI, Nov 26: Scores of panic-stricken employees and visitors of a foreign bank branch had to be evacuated on Monday when an anonymous caller warned that a bomb had been planted in the building on Abdullah Haroon Road.

The bank’s management called out the bomb disposal squad but after several hours search in the building drew a blank. After making sure that its was nothing but a hoax, the squad allowed employees of the bank, and visitors to resume their normal work without any fear.

The bank had received several hoax calls in the past, police said.
