HYDERABAD, Nov 23: Lawyers boycotted court proceedings across Sindh in response to the call of Pakistan Bar Council against the imposition of emergency and sacking of Chief Justice and other judges of superior judiciary.

The lawyers have been boycotting lower courts’ proceedings as a token protest for one hour, but PCB has called for full boycott on Friday.

The bar associations and their members had been asked by PBC not to appear before the PCO judges in high courts.

In Hyderabad, lawyers held general body meeting in civil courts building which was addressed by Hyderabad District Bar Association (HDBA) president Abdul Aziz Sheikh, Secretary Noorul Haq Qureshi and others, who condemned the imposition of emergency and dismissal of judges.

They demanded reinstatement of judges and restoration of 1973 Constitution.

They hoisted black flag at the entrance of bar room.

No lawyer appeared before the High Court Hyderabad circuit bench which was now currently headed by PCO judge Mr Justice Khawaja Naveed Ahmed.

Lawyers of Naushahro Feroze boycotted court proceedings and took out a rally from the district court building to the press club. They were led by senior advocate Ghulam Mohammad Abbasi and vice-president DBA, Abdul Salam Luhrani.

Lawyers in Kandiaro, Bhirya and Moro also boycotted court proceedings.

In Sanghar, lawyers boycotted court proceedings, wore black armbands and hoisted black flags atop the bar offices. Lawyers also boycotted court proceedings in Khipro, Tando Adam and Shahdadpur.

In Nawabshah, district bar association members boycotted court proceedings. Secretary DBA, Ziaul Hassan Lanjar told reporters that lawyers would boycott courts on every Saturday on the call of Pakistan Bar Council.

In Mirpurkhas, lawyers led by DBA president Salahuddin Panhwar boycotted court proceedings. They wore black armbands to protest against the imposition of emergency.

Meanwhile a meeting of DBA decided to boycott court proceedings and pay tributes to those judges who did not take oath under PCO.

Lawyers in district Umerkot also boycotted court proceedings and wore black armbands.
