KARACHI: KBA slams police action

Published November 22, 2007

KARACHI, Nov 21: The Karachi Bar Association has condemned the police action against journalists who were holding a peaceful procession on Tuesday and offered free legal aid to those newsmen who were in the custody of law enforcement agencies across the country.

KBA President Iftikhar Javed Qazi stated this while addressing the association’s general body meeting at Shuhda-i-Punjab Hall of the City Courts on Wednesday.

He condemned the curbs on the press and demanded the withdrawal of all restrictions on the media. “We will not surrender and our struggle for the rule of law will continue,” he said.—A Reporter
