HYDERABAD, Nov 10: District nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil has announced an allocation of Rs6 million for the construction and repair of Sakhi Abdul Wahab Shah Jilani shrine here on Friday night.

He was speaking as chief guest at a Mehfil-e-Naat at the shrine. He said the saints and sufis had spent their life time in the propagation of Islam and in the service of humanity. He said even after the passage of hundreds of years, people were benefiting from their teachings.

The chairman of Hazrat Abdul Wahab Shah shrine and religious affairs committee, MPA Engineer Naeem Ishtiaque, nazim city taluka Javed Jabbar, chairman district finance committee Q.Mohammad Hakim, chairman Dargah Makki Shah Ashabi, Aneesur Rehman and a large number of devotees of the shrine and notables of the city were present on the occasion.

Kanwar Naveed Jamil said that Sindh was the land of sufis and they were the beacon for people.

He said the present lawlessness, unrest and disappointment was prevailing because we have deviated from the path of the Quran and Sunnah. He said if we were to follow this path and the teachings and philosophy of the saints the entire world could be converted into a citadel of peace.

He said it was due to the teachings of these people that they were still revered by thousands of others even after the passage of hundreds of years.

On this occasion, He announced a donation of Rs6 million for the construction and repairs of Hazrat Abdul Wahab Shah Jilani’s shrine.

He said Rs5 million will be given by the district government and Rs1 million by the city taluka administration. He said if more funds were required for this purpose, the district government will definitely consider the matter on priority basis.

He was reminded by the administration of the shrine that the Sindh chief minister had announced Rs100 million for the shrine but the funds had not been released so far.

The district nazim said that he will fully cooperate in this matter. He appointed a committee comprising chairman, district finance committee, Q.Mohammad Hakim, chairman district works and services committee, Munawar Khan Zai and chairman religious affairs committee, Engineer Naeem Ishtiaque to prepare a comprehensive plan for the construction of the shrine.

Earlier, the district nazim laid a chaddar on the shrine and offered fateha.
