KOHAT, Nov 7: The anti-terrorist court, Kohat, has sent four lawyers belonging to Karak to the district jail for protesting against the imposition of emergency rule imposed by Chief of the Army Staff Gen Pervez Musharraf.

They were booked by the Karak district police under section 16 of the Maintenance of Public Order and section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act for holding demonstration against the government and the President. Those who booked are Bahadar Shah, Sikandar, Amanullah and Ahmad Khan.

Meanwhile, the lawyer community brought out a protest procession in Kohat, demanding immediate reinstatement of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, and lifting of the emergency rule.

They lawyers boycotted the court proceedings on the second consecutive day.

The procession was led by the president of Kohat Bar Association, Abdur Rauf, former MPA Aurangzeb and former provincial law minister Sher Nawaz Khattak.

They protesters were wearing black arm bands and holding black flags and chanting slogans against Gen Pervez Musharraf.

In their speeches, they said that although the movement against the government and in support of the Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry was started by the lawyers, it could not become successful without the participation of the masses and political workers irrespective of their affiliation. They urged the people to come out on roads to protest against Gen Musharraf’s government.
