KARACHI: Unions in PBC restored

KARACHI, March 24: The Radio Pakistan Union, United Staff Organization, has expressed gratitude to the government for restoring union activities in Radio Pakistan in the light of a Supreme Court verdict.

Trade union activities had been banned by the Gen Zia’s regime in the late 1970s and the decision to restore union activities been announced by the previous elected government, but it was not implemented in Radio Pakistan.

The general secretary of the Organization, Ansarul Haque, in a statement here on Sunday, hailed the decision.—APP
