KARACHI, Oct 29: Services at the gynaecology and obstetrics department of the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) resume today after a break of over a month following an understanding reached between the hospital administration and the agitating doctors posted in the department.

The understanding was reached at a meeting attended by Chairman of the CHK board of governors Abu Shamim Arif, Medical Superinten-dent Dr Kaleem Butt and head of the gynae department Dr Ghufrana Memon.

It was decided that the grievances of agitating doctors vis-a-viz inadequate facilities at the department would be addressed as early as possible and provision of the required equipment to the new OT Complex would be ensured. Besides, OT-I and specialist theatre would be handed over to the department.

A committee set up by the administration will visit the elective OT on Tuesday to assess the repair work, which the doctors believe was of poor quality.
