Woman kidnaps infant

TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 27: A woman kidnapped the infant son of a local cleric from his residence in Gojra on Saturday.

According to Gojra city police, a woman came to the residence of Ghulam Yaseen, khateeb of Jamia Chiraghia Qutbia, and asked him to issue an edict whether her husband’s divorcing her during pregnancy was legal or illegal according to the Islamic law.

Mr Yaseen told her that he was going to lead prayers and would issue her desired diktat after returning from the mosque.

In the meantime, when Mr Yaseen’s wife went to washroom, the woman picked her 45-day-old son and fled. The police have started investigation.

In another incident, five people kidnapped two teenaged twin sisters from Arrouti locality near Pirmahal.

Zahoor of Chak 750-GB, the father of the 13-year-olds, told police his five relatives namely Arshad, Qaiser, Akhtar, Aslam and Atiya came as guests and stayed at his home for a while.

Later, they kidnapped his daughters and fled.

The police are investigating.
