Rehman, Asif to play today

Published October 26, 2007

MULTAN, Oct 25: In a late decision taken on Thursday evening by the national selectors, it was announced that Pakistan’s top pace bowler Mohammad Asif and a fit-again Abdul Rehman will both play in the fourth One-day International against South Africa on Friday.

Asif, who was rested for the first few ODIs due to a nagging elbow injury, has now been declared fully fit and will replace young Sohail Tanvir in the crucial game, chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed ‘Sallu’ confirmed while talking to Dawn here on Friday.

Sallu added that leg-spinner Rehman had also recovered from his hamstring injury sustained in the Faisalabad game and will also be taking the field on Friday.
