PESHAWAR, Oct 18: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Istiqlal (PTI) central president Rehmat Khan Wardag has urged opposition parties to avoid politics of agitation and allow President Gen Pervez Musharraf to put the country back on track of ‘real democracy’.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Wardag said the country was heading towards ‘real democracy’ as Gen Musharraf had made a commitment to doff his uniform after taking a fresh oath of the presidential.

He asked the opposition to believe Gen Musharraf’s word.

Mr Wardag said that if martial law was imposed in the country, then it would be a fault of the opposition parties.

He alleged that opposition leaders, including Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Imran Khan and Qazi Hussain Ahmad were creating hurdles in the way of transition to democracy in the country.

He claimed that the APDM leadership was afraid of Ms Bhutto’s popularity.

He said the PTI would welcome the PPP chief and demand the government to allow Nawaz Sharif’s return.—APP
