KARACHI, Oct 12: The University of Karachi has banned wall-chalking and display of banners and posters within the limits of the institution, stating that the decision had been taken in the best interest of its students and for creating congenial environment for academic activities.

The administration stated in a release on Friday that it was a social and moral duty due of every student to help maintain peace and academic atmosphere on the campus.

For this purpose, certain steps have been recommended which will help maintain peace and give an essential boost to educational activities, according to the release.

It said that distribution of handbills had also been banned, warning that stern disciplinary action would be taken against any student found involved in such activities on the campus in violation of the ban.

“All students are directed to display their university identity card all the time at the university. As the examinations of the current semester are approaching, students must concentrate on their studies.

Therefore, all non-academic activities during this period will remain suspended,” said the release.—PPI
