THATTA, Oct 8: Sindh PPP president Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that return of the party chairperson on October 18 would change the political scenario of the country and now it will march on the path of real democracy under the leadership of Benazir Bhutto.

Speaking at a big gathering of People’s Party Parliamentarians workers and people in Sujawal on Monday, Mr Shah said that unparalleled sacrifices rendered by party leadership and workers had paved the way for restoration of true and real democracy in the country. He expressed the confidence that the party leaders and workers who were staunch followers of the legacy of late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto would succeed in restoring undiluted democracy with the help of the masses.

Saying that an era of tyranny and oppression was about to come to an end, he urged the government to hold general elections in a fair and impartial manner and warned that the people would not allow any sort of rigging.

He said that the people could differentiate between the true leaders and the puppets and they would block the way of “Lotas” and opportunist elements in the polls.

Expressing concern over police atrocities against local PPP workers and sympathisers and registration of fabricated cases against them, he pointed to Syed Masood Mustafa Shah and said that he and five other party workers had been implicated in a concocted case of kidnapping of a government employee and his wrongful confinement on the instigation of rival party leaders. He warned the police to desist from such practices and demanded immediate release of a party worker, Majnoon Sarki.

The PPP leader also addressed a party workers convention at Shah house. Earlier, he addressed big crowds in Thatta, Gharo, Gujjo and other towns while coming to Sujawal from Karachi in a motorcade.

Hundreds of party workers, boarding different vehicles, welcomed Mr Shah at Ghaggar Phatak and joined his motorcade.
