HYDERABAD, Oct 6: Activists of ruling Pakistan Muslim League, nazims of several districts and towns and pro-Musharraf groups across Sindh celebrated the unofficial victory of Gen Pervez Musharraf in the presidential elections on Saturday by holding rallies and procession and distributing sweets.

In Hyderabad, PML-Q activists staged a demonstration outside the press clubs to celebrate the event and different sectors of the party staged small and big rallies led by district general secretary of the party, Mushtaq Ahmed Farooqui, Dr Ghaffar Qureshi, Tahseen Anjum Siddiqui, Naveed Shaikh and Azhar Zaidi.

The district government of Hyderabad sacrificed 70 goats as a token of thanksgiving on the success of Gen Musharraf in the elections.

District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil also led a rally of pro-Musharraf nazims of various talukas and union councils and the officials of the district government.

According to an official handout, 50 maunds of sweets were distributed and all the main thoroughfares and roundabouts were illuminated.

In Mithi, PML-Q activists staged a rally. District Nazim Arbab Anwar said while addressing the rally that record development works including vast network of metalled roads, water supply and electrification had been completed by Musharraf’s regime in Thar area.

Local government system had greatly helped in redressing people’s grievances at grass root level and it could be hoped that Sui gas and other facilities would also be provided to the area in near future by the present regime.

Among others, Abin Ali Rahoomo, general secretary PML-Q Tharparkar, Ghulam Mohammad Rahoomo, president PML (labour wing), Haji Allah Dino Bajir, taluka nazim Mithi, Dilawar Malkani, taluka nazim Chhachhro, Ramsingh Sodho, former district naib nazim also spoke at the rally.

In Mirpurkhas, PML-Q staged a rally which started from Hashim Bhurgri village. Hundreds of people led by Kishan Chand Parvani, advisor to chief minister and taluka nazim of Kot Ghulam Muhammad, Noor Mohammad Bhurgri. The rally marched in a motorcade and terminated in Hashim Bhurgri village.

In Nawabshah, activists of PML-Q staged a rally in support of presidential election. The rally started from Syed House and ended at the local press club.

In Jacobabad, District Nazim Begum Saeeda Soomro led a rally to celebrate the unofficial success of Gen Pervez Musharraf in presidential elections.

The rally started from district nazim office and after marching on different roads of the city, reached the press club.

Begum Soomro, Anwar Ali Soomro and other party leaders said that after re-election of Gen Pervez Musharraf as president, the country would continue on the path of progress and prosperity.

In Badin, PML-Q activists staged a procession to celebrate the unofficial success of Gen Musharraf. Led by District Naib Nazim Azizullah Dero, the PML workers started its march from district council office.

In Dadu, PML-Q activists and their supporters took out a big rally to celebrate re-election of Gen Musharraf as president. They were led by District Nazim Karim Ali Jatoi and Naib Nazim Syed Mohammad Shah.

The rally marched on different roads of the city and distributed sweets among people. Muttahida Qaumi Movement also staged a rally and distributed sweets.
