KARACHI: Bid to blow up pylon fails

Published October 3, 2007

KARACHI, Oct 2: A bomb planted on a power pylon in Keamari Town on Tuesday went off without causing extensive damage.

However, the bomb disposal squad defused another bomb planted in another electricity tower, carrying 500kV transmission line, in the same area. A BDS official said that the bomb was planted on the pole No.84 installed some 40 km from the Manghopir police station.

“It weighed four kilogrammes and was of the same design of the two bombs we had defused in Gadani on Sunday,” said SI Munir Ahmed Sheikh, who led the team.
