KARACHI, Sept 29: A trader and member of the Karachi Electronics Dealers’ Association (KEDA), who had been injured on Friday following a dispute that had led to the use of small fire arms, died on Saturday at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, triggering a shutter-down strike mainly by the cell phone dealers.

Police said Tahir had received a bullet wound in the head, which proved fatal. The 38-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries 11 hours after the incident.

Meanwhile, Preedy police registered an FIR 550/2007 on the complaint of Faisal, younger brother of the deceased, against several people including Shuja and Asim. Most of the traders at the Electronics Market observed a strike and kept their businesses closed. According to KEDA chairman Mohammad Irfan, the incident was a result of external influence in the purely commercial area.

“Actually there is a lack of coordination among the traders, which leads to such incidents,” he said.
