ISLAMABAD, Sept 26: Information secretary of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Punjab, Farzana Raja on Wednesday said the PPP stood for peaceful transition to democracy through dialogue but the extremist elements in Gen Musharraf’s cabinet are creating hurdles in the success of talks.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the PPP leader said her party wanted to put an end to dictatorship in the country as it always struggled for the restoration of genuine democracy and it always demanded of the president to doff his uniform and hold free and fair elections.

Ms Raja said it was the same group of people, who were behind every crisis, ranging from support to extremists in Lal Masjid to massive scams like sugar, cement, and steel mill and most recently flour crisis, who were supporting uniform to perpetuate their rule and suggesting Gen Musharraf to enforce martial law in country.
