Sajid Mir arrested again in Jhelum

LAHORE, Sept 26: Punjab police on Wednesday again arrested Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal senior vice-president Senator Sajid Mir from the vicinity of Jhelum jail as he was about to be released after acceptance of his bail plea by the district and sessions judge. According to party sources, Lahore police arrested Prof Mir and brought him here.

They said the police did not divulge the charges against him and declined to apprise his party or family of his whereabouts.

Prof Mir was arrested in Jhelum on Monday and detained in the district jail under Section 16 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance for one month.

He moved the district and sessions judge who allowed his release on bail on Wednesday. His party, the Markazi Jamiat Ahl-i-Hadith has called for protest on Friday against the arrest.
