KARACHI, Sept 17: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement made the New Karachi town naib nazim resign after receiving complaints of corruption and inefficiency against him.“Muhammad Shakilur Rehman has been removed from the post of naib town nazim of New Karachi with immediate effect,” says a press release issued by the MQM-backed Haq Parast Panel on Sunday night.

Last month, the MQM had removed the nazim of the same town, Hanif Soorti, from his office. Out of the 18 towns of the metropolis, 14 town nazims belong to the Haq Parast Panel. Besides the New Karachi town nazim, the party had made its five nazims of Jamshed, Landhi, Gulberg, Malir and Shah Faisal towns resign for their alleged failure to serve people living in their respective jurisdictions, corruption and inefficiency.
