KARACHI, Sept 11: A schoolgirl and her driver were shot at and wounded by bandits in the Sindhi Muslim Cooperative Housing Society on Monday afternoon.

Family sources said they had gone to pick children from the Shah Latif School in the SMCHS. As their driver went to the school, four to five gunmen approached the car and demanded the jewellery from the women in the car.

As they were snatching the jewellery, the driver returned and seized one of the suspects. During the scuffle, the suspects opened fire, wounding the six-year-old Fatima and the driver.

The suspects fled. The victims were rushed to the Aga Khan Hospital, where they were admitted for treatment. The condition of the girl was stated to be serious.
