MANDI BAHAUDDIN, Sept 3: MNA Liaquat Baloch has said doors for dictatorship have been closed forever in this country.

Addressing a rally in connection with Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal’s Road Caravan here on Monday evening, Baloch said Pakistan had been created in the name of Islam and 98 per cent of the population wanted to have Shariah system implemented in this country.

The MMA leader said the All Pakistan Democratic Movement’s doors were open for PPP leadership and they should avoid inking a deal with a dictator. Baloch said uniform of the president was no issue currently, as the whole nation abhorred Pervez Musharraf with or without uniform.

Jamaat-i-Islami and MMA leaders including MNA Mian Aslam, Allama Sardar Mehmood, Riaz Farooq Sahi, Haji Abdur Rehman, Saifullah Sahi and Rasheed Shahid also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, hundreds of MMA workers welcomed the participants of caravan at Rasool Barrage in the afternoon.

JOINS PML-N: Chaudhry Umar Hayat Lalika, a former MNA, has announced joining Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday afternoon at the residence of PML-N Punjab Vice President Dewaan Mushtaq Ahmed. Lalika was talking to reporters at Dewaan House. PML-N candidate for NA-109 Ch Munawwar Iqbal Gondal was also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the police and other law-enforcement agencies have planed foiling welcome preparations being made by PML-N workers for Mian Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif who are returning to Pakistan on Sept 10.

The police and agencies have compiled lists of PML-N leaders and workers and preparations are underway to launch a crackdown against them, sources requesting anonymity told Dawn on Monday.

According to the crackdown plan, active PML-N leaders would be arrested on Sept 6, public representative belonging to the PML-N including nazims, naib nazims and councillors would be lifted on Sept 8 while rest of the PML-N workers will be taken into custody on Sept 9 ahead of their departure to Islamabad.
