MUZAFFARGARH Sept 2: A man allegedly threw acid on his wife’s face on suspicion that she had an affair with another man in Kotaddu teshil on Friday night. The woman is in critical condition in Nishtar Hospital, Multan.

Irshad Bibi of Budh village had married her cousin Ajmal of Sanawan village two years ago.

Her father, Ghulam Hussain, said locals informed him on Saturday that Irshad Bibi was sleeping in her house at night when Ajmal came there and said he wanted to give her a surprise gift.

He said when she asked for the gift, Ajmal threw acid on her face. He said Ajmal later took Irshad to a room and confined her till he reached there and took his daughter to a local hospital.

Later, the doctors referred her to Nishtar Hspital where she was in critical condition, her father added.

Ghulma Hussain said Ajmal used to beat up his daughter repeatedly on suspicion of having an affair with another man of the locality. He appealed to the government to arrest the accused and arrange treatment for his daughter, as he was a poor man.

The police have registered a case. However, no arrest has been made so far.
