KARACHI, Aug 30: ‘Shaadi ka Paigham,’ an adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s ‘Marriage Proposal,’ will introduce the group Natakwalay to Karachi’s theatre scene. To be staged at the PACC Auditorium from September 2-6 at 8pm, the play will be followed by a music performance by the band Taal Karisma, constituting Ahsan Bari, Alan Simon and Joshua Fernandes.

Directed by Mohsin Ali Shah, ‘Shaadi ka Paigham’ stars Farhan Ahmed and Rabab Hashim in the lead roles and draws its humour from the conflict inherent in an ill-conceived match between a nervous hypochondriac and a dominating young woman. At the heart of the play’s social commentary is wealthy families’ desire to contract marriages among their own class. Tickets will be available at the venue.
