HYDERABAD, Aug 29: Wahdat Colony Qasimabad Ladies Welfare Association has accused the civil surgeon of the Services Hospital Hyderabad of being involved in corruption and demanded his suspension and an inquiry against him.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Wednesday, the coordinator of the association, Maqsood Ahmed Mahessar, general secretary Mukhtiar Mughal, Ms Shazia Baloch, Ms Shakeela Mughal and others alleged that the civil surgeon Saeed Memon was demanding 50 per cent commission on substandard medicines and had embezzled millions of rupees through fake bills.

They claimed that the Anti-Corruption Establishment Hyderabad had already held an inquiry in which embezzlement of tens of thousands of rupees was detected.

They appealed to the Sindh chief minister, chief secretary, Sindh minister and secretary for health to place the civil surgeon under suspension and order an inquiry against him.

Dr Saeed Memon, when contacted, emphatically denied the allegations levelled against him and said that the press conference was in fact sponsored by a dispenser, Sher Mohammad Rind. He alleged that Sher Mohammad Rind had hired these people to hold the press conference and level false and wild charges against him.

Dr Memon claimed that Sher Mohammad Rind had applied for loan but his documents were incomplete, and the application was not processed.

Dr Memon claimed that even the DG health had held an inquiry against him. He said the hospital was meant for civil servants.
