MITHI, Aug 22: A monument should be erected at the spot in Nagarparkar town where freedom fighter Rooplo Kohli was hanged by the British colonial rulers and heroic tale of his struggle should be included in curricula.

This was proposed in a resolution adopted at a gathering held at the Mithi Press Club on to mark the 149th death anniversary of Rooplo Kohli. The programme was organised by the Sindh Kolhi Welfare Association.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhuromal Kolhi advocate said that Ruplo Kohli was a patriotic and brave loyal man who sacrificed his life in fighting with British rule.

Human rights activist Rochiram said that Ruplo Kohli's heart was filled with the spirit of valour and courage and his sacrifice for freedom from British slavery gave us the lesson that we should not hesitate to render greatest sacrifices for their motherland.

Ramsingh Sodho, former district naib nazim of Tharparkar, said that towering personalities like Ruplo were born in centuries and the best way to pay him tribute would be to follow his footsteps and serve the country and the nation by rising above self-interests.

Mukim Kumbher, Mohammad Ali Unnar, Khatau Jani, Amar Udani, Gunpat Bhil, Dolatram Khatri and others spoke on the occasion.

BUSES: A human rights activist, Chandar Sharma, moved an application in the court of director human rights and district and sessions judge, Tharparkar, to initiate action against those transporters who are not plying their buses to Mithi despite getting route permits for Hyderabad-Mithi route.

The applicant has pointed out that out of 27 buses that are supposed to operate between Hyderabad and Mithi, only six reach Mithi whereas other return back from Naukot, Digri or other towns, instead of going up to Mithi. The judge has fixed the hearing on August 28, and sought clarification from the secretary of the Regional Transport Authority.
