QUETTA, Aug 20: The Balochistan High Court acquitted on Monday Sardar Akhtar Mengal, chief of the Balochistan National Party (Mengal group), of treason charges in two cases and ordered police stations concerned to remove his name from the FIRs.

Two cases of treason were registered by Civil Police Station on April 12, 2006, and Sariab Police Station on Aug 30, 2006, against Sardar Akhtar Mengal and several other people for delivering anti-state speeches.

The court adjourned the hearing of two other cases of treason filed against Sardar Mengal till Sept 7.
