CHITRAL, Aug 18: The district nazim has expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of government schools and colleges, saying they have failed to impart quality education.

Speaking at an award-distribution ceremony here on Saturday, Maghfirat Shah said that only quality education could secure the nation’s future. He said that the district was facing the problem of poverty because of under-utilisation of natural resources, adding that no serious efforts had been made to curb the incidence of poverty.

Mr Shah said Chitral’s minerals had already been leased out to outsiders on nominal charges because the local people lacked the resources. He said the district government was trying to optimally utilise the natural resources.
