KARACHI, March 10: Residents of Baldia Town, on Sunday demonstrated in front of Karachi Press Club against the town officials for failing to maintain proper cleanliness and water supply in the area.

Despite passage of six months, the town administration has made no efforts to provide relief to the residents from land mafia and drug pushers, the protesters said.

They said heaps of garbage had been piled up and infrastructure was being destroyed in the area, but no action was being taken by the concerned authorities.

One of the demonstrators alleged that most of the vacant government plots and cattle pens had already been occupied by the land mafia in connivance with police and town officials.

They urged the governor of Sindh and City Nazim to take immediate action and issue orders for solution to the problems.

The demonstration was organized by an NGO, Pasban.—PPI
