KARACHI, July 31: A police constable was shot dead and his brother was wounded in their house in Korangi on early Tuesday morning. Police said an attacker barged into the house of Qamaruz Zaman Abro at around 12:30am and opened fire on him and his younger brother, Shahid Abro.

The body of the 40-year-old constable and his wounded brother were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Sources said Qamar had received four bullets wounds while his brother had sustained a bullet wound in his abdomen.

The police said the victim’s youngest brother, Amjad Hussain, lodged a case against unknown attackers. They said it was apparently a case of a targeted killing.

The complainant told the police that he saw an attacker wearing trousers and a shirt, running away after the shooting.

Meanwhile, a young man was found shot dead near a school for special children in Korangi.

His body was shifted to the JPMC, where the victim remained unidentified till our going to press.
