KARACHI, July 30: The judicial magistrate, South, Asif Ahmed, on Monday issued warrants for the arrest of Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Sindh PPP President Syed Qaim Ali Shah and others for not attending the proceedings of a case registered against them for allegedly damaging many vehicles during a protest demonstration on June 18, 2004.

The court issued the arrest warrants for the accused through the deputy-inspector general of police and asked him to ensure their presence on the Aug 10.

According to the FIR (358/04) registered by the police, PPP leaders Rashid Rabbani, Sassi Palejo, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Muzzafar Ali Shujra, Najmi Alam, Raheel Iqbal, Dr Mehreen Bhutto, Sharfunnisa Laghari and Marvi Mazhar had taken out a procession to protest against the killing of PPP leader Munawwar Suharwardi and allegedly damaged a number of vehicles.
