LARKANA, July 15: The Deputy Inspector General Prison, Sukkur Col Muhammed Khaleeq Malal on Sunday began probe into the clashes among inmates inside the Central Prison Larkana. About 41 prisoners were shifted to Central Prison Sukkur and District Jail Shikarpur. The step was taken to avoid future clashes, the sources said.

The IG jails Sindh, taking notice of the clashes, had tasked the DIG Prison Sukkur to investigate and ascertain the cause of clash, said Abubakar Shaikh Jail Superintendent Central Prison Larkana while talking to ‘Dawn’ on Sunday.

The search operation was carried out in jail, he confirmed. Twenty prisoners were shifted to Central Prison Sukkur while 21 to Shikarpur District Jail, he said.

The DIG supervised the search operation and the process of shifting prisoners to different jails, Shaikh said.

All those shifted to other jails belonged to Chandio and Abro clans including the four who were injured and admitted on Saturday night to Chandka Medical College Hospital the sources confirmed to ‘Dawn’.

They had been the source of irritation and creating trouble inside the jail which prompted the management to immediately shift them, the jail superintendent said.

No case had been registered with concerned police station against inmates for violating rules, said the sources.

It was learnt that the DIG Prison had taken lenient view about it. The names of the shifted prisons included Dodo Chandio, Mumtaz Abro, Muhammed Ali Sangi, Raza Ali Abro, Irshad Abro and others.
