KARACHI, July 15: A group of alumni of the University of Karachi intends to initiate a mega project for the promotion of social sciences and research activities at their alma mater.

This was announced by a KU spokesman here on Sunday.

He said that the office-bearers of the Karachi University Old Students' Association, Canada, America and UK called on the vice-chancellor, Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, at the campus here and briefed him about the project.

The alumni said that modern research facilities would be made available through this very project and the services of eminent social scientists from abroad would also be acquired.

Scholarships for talented students would also be arranged and the alumni would extend full cooperation in this regard.

The vice-chancellor appreciated the gesture on the part of the alumni. He said that such facilities would benefit our youngsters in the acquisition of further knowledge.—APP
