KARACHI, July 12: A brilliant century by Daniyal Ahsan inspired Pakistan CC to their second straight victory in the PCB National Inter-club cricket tournament at the PCB Academy Ground here on Thursday.

Daniyal made 114 as Pakistan CC, the Karachi champions, defeated Faisalabad’s Combined CC by 56 runs.

After being invited to bat first Pakistan CC piled up 258 for seven in their allotted quota of 50 overs with Man-of-the-Match Daniyal striking six sixes and four fours in his 126-ball innings. Asad Shafiq struck 46 with a solitary boundary.

Leg-spinner Ammar Rana claimed four for 61.

Combined CC, in reply, made partial recovery to reach 202 all out in the 48th over after being 114 for eight at one stage. Hamza Zaheer hit an 88-ball 50, including six fours.

But tailender Mohammad Talha was the top-scorer. Batting at No 9, he bludgeoned four sixes and as many fours in scoring 57 off 38 balls.

Slow left-armer Nauman Alvi excelled by claiming four for 38 in 10 overs. Paceman Iftikhar Ali also bowled well to capture three for 48.
