KARACHI, July 5: Sindh Minister for Local Government, Katchi Abadis and Spatial Development Mohammad Hussain Khan has directed all the towns of Karachi to accelerate work of removing encroachments from storm-water drains and nullahs in their respective jurisdictions, if necessary seeking the help of law enforcement agencies.

He said this while visiting rain-hit areas of Surjani, Gadap, Taiser and Orangi towns to review the relief and rehabilitation work on Thursday.

The cleaning of drains should be done on a war footing to ensure the smooth flow of water, he said, adding that people should also cooperate in the campaign to remove encroachments.

He advised the people to contact their respective union councils and inform them about the losses they suffered during the rains so that their cases could be considered for compensation.—PPI
