KARACHI, June 28: The Sindh Minister for Local Government, Katchi Abadis and Spatial Development, Mohammad Hussain Khan, directed all the town municipal administrations (TMAs) of the city to fill the ditches developed as a result of rains and drain out water from roads.

He issued these orders during his visit to various areas of Site and Orangi towns on Thursday. MNA Abdul Qadir Khanzada and Orangi Town Nazim Abdul Haq were also present.

The minister said that these steps were imperative so as to avoid any possible outbreak of diseases. He said that requests of compensation for the loss of property would be considered sympathetically.

The minister asked the nazims of all Union Councils to compile the data of properties damaged during the recent heavy downpour.

He also asked them to constitute survey teams for various areas of their respective UCs, comprising councillors so as to ascertain the relief requirements of the residents and to collect data pertaining to rain-related losses.—PPI
