KARACHI, June 25: Senator Nisar A. Memon said that June 26 was the day to stand up against the menace of drug production and its trafficking. It was the responsibility of all government agencies connected with narcotics control to ensure that they performed their best to rid the country of this problem, he said in a statement issued here on Monday.

He said that the Anit-Narcotics Force (ANF) should accelerate efforts to reduce the demand of drugs by enforcing programmes already in place. The senator said that on June 26, the International Day against Drug and Illicit Trafficking, we must resolve to take necessary measures within the country to control this menace. He also called upon poppy growers in Afghanistan to stop cultivation of poppy. He urged the world community to enforce their laws to put curbs on drug trafficking throughout the world to save humanity from destruction.—PPI
