KARACHI, June 20: A division bench of the High Court of Sindh on Wednesday permitted chief of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party Dr Qadir Magsi to proceed abroad for two months.

The bench comprising Justice Anwer Zaheer Jamali and Justice Qaiser Iqbal was hearing a constitutional petition challenging the placement of the petitioner’s name on the exit control list. The bench also directed him to furnish a surety of Rs500,000.

Earlier, Advocate Noor Naz Agha appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner’s name was placed on the ECL in 1989 on account of his alleged involvement in anti-state activities.

The counsel justifying the prayer argued that the petitioner intended to leave the country to get medical treatment and to attend a number of conferences abroad. — APP
