KARACHI, March 3: Several parts of the city either went dry or received scant supply on Sunday owing to two bursts which occurred in two different pipelines on Saturday.

Although the KWSB officials claimed that the normal supply of water had been released on Sunday following the repair of a 33-inch dia pipeline that had burst on a service road of Sharae Faisal, residents of different localities hooked to it complained that they didn’t get a single drop of water on Sunday.

Most of such complaints have been received from the residents of Sultanabad, Hijrat Colony, Keamari, Bhutta Village and Trans Lyari.

Complaints of acute water shortage have also been received from the residents of Bahadurabad No 3, Bangalore Town, Adamjee Nagar, Al-Hamra Society and Shabbirabad.

People residing in North Karachi’s sectors 2, 4, 5-C-1 and 5- C-2 complained that most parts of their localities either went completely dry or received the supply with a very low pressure on Saturday and Sunday.

Attributing the water shortage in their localities to the burst in a 12-inch dia pipeline on Saturday near the Khwaja Ajmair Nagri police station, residents of the affected sectors of North Karachi demanded of the KWSB officials to immediately restore the normal supply to their localities, as in the absence of water they had no choice but to consume subsoil unhygienic water at the cost of their health.

Residents of North Karachi’s Sector 11-B also complained of getting scant supply due to a leakage in their locality’s pipeline more than two backs back.
