KARACHI, June 6: Jordan has backed out in less than 24 hours after confirming their late entry in the 23rd Asian Snooker Championship, the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) said on Wednesday.

“The Jordanian counterparts have pulled out citing pre-occupation in Egypt,” a PBSA official said.

He added that the Jordan Billiards and Snooker Association were not aware of their Olympic association’s commitment in Egypt which compelled them to withdraw candidature of their players.

As many as 35 players representing 16 nations including the hosts are to vie for top honours in the week-long spectacle.

Meanwhile, the national camp currently in progress at the Karachi Club concludes on Saturday, two days prior to the commencement of the event.

The official said the foreign teams will start arriving in the city from Saturday night. Their boarding and lodging arrangements have been made in the same hotel which serves as the venue.
