HYDERABAD, June 5: The monitoring committee has expressed its dissatisfaction over pace of work at Rani Bagh (zoo) Development Project. The committee met under the chairmanship of Zila Naib Nazim Hyderabad, Zafar Rajput, on Monday. The project was launched last year at a cost of Rs72 million.

It directed the officers concerned to remove bottlenecks, accelerate work and complete the project within the stipulated period.

The meeting was attended by adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Ms Nuzhat Pathan, Taluka Nazim Qasimabad Noor Mohammad Shoro, Taluka Naib Nazim Qasimabad Hyder Shahani, Nazim UC Qasimabad Parvez Ranjha, Technical Officer Hyderabad Development Project Fahim Junejo, consultant representatives and contractors.

According to the committee, delay was being caused due to lack of coordination among sister organisations and stakeholders for which monthly joint meetings will be held to remove misunderstandings.

Zila Naib Nazim Zafar Rajput directed consultants and contractors to complete subsurface drainage network before initiating other development works on the surface. He further informed the participants that the PC-1 for laying tile drain network within the catchments area of Rani Bagh had been approved by the PDWP at an estimated cost of Rs80 million.

Work order to implement the component of tile drain will be issued to contractor within two weeks with a view to maintaining subsurface water table at safe level, essential for sustainable work, he added.

Referring to contractor’s reservation, especially on laying tile drain before other development work, Zila Naib nazim directed officers concerned to prepare integrated work schedule to keep the contractor engaged.
