KARACHI, May 27: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has criticised the Sindh government for banning the entry of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan into the province and termed it a cowardly act.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, the MMA leaders said that the Sindh government and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) wanted to create ethnic conflict in Karachi once again.
The statement said that uncivilised chalking against Imran Khan throughout Karachi, Hyderabad and other cities has exposed the real face of those claiming themselves to be enlightened people and added that this act had also degraded the MQM’s moral character.
They said that the government and its cronies could not stop the struggle launched for the independence of the judiciary and the restoration of democracy in the country through such tactics.
The MMA leaders said that Imran Khan is a nationalist leader and the ban on his entry into Sindh shows the vengeful nature of the government and the MQM against the opposition.
SANA CONDEMNS: The Sindhi Association of North America (Sana) has strongly condemned the MQM’s campaign against PTI chief Imran Khan and warned that it would further polarize society and will lead to a situation similar to the tragic events of May 12.
In a press release issued in Houston, Texas, USA, a Sana spokesperson also deplored the Sindh government’s decision barring Imran Khan from entering the province.
The spokesperson said that no group should be allowed to impose hegemony over Karachi or any other part of the country and that violence, terrorism and the use of force should be eliminated from society.
He said that the MQM campaign and threats against Imran Khan have created a dangerous situation in Sindh and it should be held responsible for any law and order problems.—PPI
