Begum Ispahani passes away

KARACHI, May 13: Begum Ghamar Ispahani, widow of Mirza Abul Hasan Ispahani, a close associate of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, died of lung failure here on Sunday. She was 90.

She left behind two sons Zia Ispahani and Mirza Mohammad Ispahani and daughter Iran Ispahani Rahim. She was laid to rest next to her husband in the Defence Graveyard near Kalapul. Her soyem will be held at Imambargah, Phase IV, DHA, on Tuesday between Asr and Maghrib.

A recipient of Nishan-i-Imtiaz and Italy’s Cavalleri award, Begum Ispahani had founded an orphanage for girls, Kashana-i-Itfal, in Karachi. She represented Pakistan at the Geneva-based National Council of Child Welfare.
